Allocation: see your engineering investments for any time period

We’ve significantly expanded the capabilities of Allocation to give a deeper, broader, richer view into where your engineering time (and dollars) are going.

The new version provides two modes, trend and table. In the trend view, we show the allocation of time spent for the period you select, and how that compares to the prior five equivalent periods. In the table view, we show the allocation of time spent for the period you select in sortable table format and organized by your chosen grouping. In either view, you can see time allocation grouped by epic, project, label, issue type, or fix version. You can also further filter to see by person or team.

You can also optionally define labor costs to see, for example, how much money has been invested to-date in a given epic or type of work—perfect for software capitalization.

See summary productivity trends for teams and projects

For all teams and connected projects, we now display a dashboard summary of Trends productivity data for each. You can adjust the timeframe to see changes in each metric across all teams or projects.

A word on entity names

We’ve changed our work entity names to align with Jira. This means:

  • Objective → Epic

  • Objective group → Initiative

  • Workstream → Project

  • Task → Issue

  • Phase → Status
